Day 10
10 May 2023
Castro Urdiales to Laredo
Stage: 9
Walked: 36,85 km
Planned: 30,9 km
Steps: 49,605
I started my journey with no stamp in my Peregrino credential as the stamp from the hotel was being repaired. Also, with no blisters - or at least almost cured. I headed out, had a coffee and started my journey, realizing that my blisters and hot spots somehow did not reflect pain any longer - hence I was very excited. I followed my dads suggestion to use gauze and plaster to cover the blisters and it worked too. The journey ahead seemed to be long and rough. It turned out to be perhaps one of the most beautiful so far. Cows, sheep, goats, horses, rain, sea, trees, figs, flowers, more rain - it was stunning! My clothes, shoes, passport, pilgrim credential, wallet and pretty much everything got soaking wet. With very little legs and lot of pain, I arrived in Laredo to a decent, very overpriced hotel. I had better, cheaper albergues around that I overlooked by misusing the apps and my own guide book. I can only blame my tiredness. Lesson learned.
