Day 11
11 May 2023
Laredo to Güemes
Stage: 11
Walked: 29,96 km
Planned: 28,5 km
Steps: 39,538
I started my day with all my clothes wet from the day before. Soaking wet. For the first time in the Camino, I crossed paths with people a bit unfriendly with the peregrines. For the first time I felt we weren’t well greeted in a town. I did not enjoy my stay in Laredo or the town. The place is beautiful, and so is the beach. I blame my disconnection with the town on my level of tiredness. Of all days, this is the worst. I left the town and walked 3.5 km of a pristine, astounding beach into a ferry that took me and other pilgrims to Santoña, in the middle of a storm, rainbow included. I reached the town and found Gallofa&Co, bread and coffee place that saved me (not exaggerating) twice today. The walk was shorter and also a bit more laid back. I needed the “break”, or at least I needed to walk less than 25 km. I arrived to an absolutely beautiful posada, in the middle of nowhere, with wonderful people.
nth coincidence: the posada had 14 rooms, each one with a name. My room’s name was Santiago 😊
