Day 28
28 May 2023
Cadavedo to Luarca
Stage: 23
Walked: 20,63 km
Planned: 15,7 km
Steps: 24,647
The walk from Cadavedo to Luarca was short, fairly smooth and very enjoyable. We had to walk, for a third consecutive day, through forests that were devoured by the fierce fires two months before. After passing this sad portion of the stage, we had a hearty breakfast at Cueva, in the middle of the old-National road, down in the canyon (the new highway runs very high up in the mountains. The view is the structure from down there was amazing) We reached Luarca swiftly since the stage was only 14 km. That gave me and Vicente plenty of time to enjoy the key sightseeings (cemetery, lighthouse, marina) and a beer or two before checking in the hostel (where a grumpy old man was waiting for us). We freshened up and headed out for a Sunday lunch. Vicente he always talked about his family, every day, and how his sons would always invite him and MariCarmen (wife) for lunch every Sunday. So we went for lunch. I felt I was taking my dad for lunch too. We had a blast. After this we relaxed in the hostel, I spoke with mom and while doing so, the train passed by the town, up in the mountain, which she got to see in the video call. Priceless! Thank you technology.
