Day 29
29 May 2023
Luarca to La Caridad
Stage: 24
Walked: 33,01 km
Planned: 30 km
Steps: 37,599
After a night of struggle to sleep and a burning sensation on my soles, we left Luarca on a steep ascent which left us with a breathtaking views of the sunrise behind the mountains. I realized I forgot my towel in the albergue - which I wanted to change anyways as the smell of blood from my accident was unbearable. We started what seemed to be a very efficient walk to La Caridad. In Villapedre, we stopped for a hearty breakfast and continued our journey to Navia- where we bought sunscreen, compeed (for the endless blisters), my towel and other supplies. In Navia we had a coffee to recover the strength to carry on. The sun was unmerciful however, we manage to keep up with the previous pace and reached the Albergue very early in La Xana on the swiftest, most efficient stage in a long time. We headed out for a wonderful lunch and returned to the albergue to relax and help Vicente plan and book the stages and lodging all the way to Santiago de Compostela. The Stratos balm I bought in Navia (recommended in internet and by the pharmacist for my soles) proved to be very effective. Thank you universe!
