Day 34
3 Jun 2023
Abadín to Vilalba
Stage: 28
Walked: 19,7 km
Planned: 24,95 km
Steps: 30,592
I started my day quite early, helping a fellow pilgrim fix the coffee machine. I had breakfast and headed out around 7:00. The initial walk was very peaceful, on a dirty road amongst pine trees and eucalyptuses. Absolutely stunning. Today, for the first time in the Camino an overwhelming feeling got me: today I felt that through my body, legs and feet I was facilitating the waking of people other than me - family, ancestors and other people that couldn’t walk freely not only this land and this project of mine, but the earth. This idea and thought took over my head and body for at least 3-5 km. On the Pontevella Martiñán bridge I met Jesus, a 40 years old celtic man carving wood and selling his handcraft to pilgrims. We had a conversation about humankind, kindness and many other things. We shared views and thoughts - including my feeling of other souls from other lives walking this path through me. I bought a couple of gifts and he gave me a shell and a seed - while telling me that he felt that at some point I would live in Europe so I should bring that seed back. We hugged and he put the necklace around my neck. This encounter was very special. After this I walked straight to Vilalba and had a beer before heading to the Albergue. Today my belongings are arriving from London in Bucaramanga and I am grateful for the support and help provided by my mom and Yiya. All my love. Thank you!
