Day 9

9 May 2023

Pobeña to Castro Urdiales

Stage: 8

Walked: 26,21 km

Planned: 16,7 km

Steps: 36,107

The day started with what seemed to be a short walk that turned into a 24km lovely journey, transitioning from el País Vasco to la Region de Cantabria.  The landscapes were simply spectacular, and for the second time in this Camino, after Irun, it rained for a bit longer than 4 hours.  My feet hurt - my knees and hips as well.  The rest of my body was intact, particularly my spirit and soul. Castro Urdiales is a stunning town by the sea.  I spent the night in a Posada. I bought the Fusidic Acid at the pharmacy to treat my blisters - getting worse by the hour.  They gave me the acid solely because I was a pilgrim. This is considered and antibiotic and you need a written medical order to get it. I guess the lady noticed my discomfort and pain. If you are reading this and do not know what Fusidic Acid is, you must =)
